Postpartum Care

Postpartum care for MOM

Your newborn baby may be your first priority after becoming a mother, but making sure mom gets taken care of, too, is essential. Having a baby can take a toll on a mother. Whether it is with stretch marks, breast feeding, tearing, hemorrhoids, and other complications, Key Health Pharmacy and Compounding can help make things a bit more bearable for mom.

Stretch marks are a big physical change seen in women during and after pregnancy. Unfortunately, they can leave women feeling insecure about their body. We can make a topical solution with retinoic acid. This application has been proven to improve the appearance of skin for pregnancy-related stretch marks. This therapy however, cannot be taken until after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is definitely a sacrifice that a mother makes for her child. Two complications that may arise are dry and cracked nipples, as well as milk letdown.

  • For dry and cracked nipples, we have the “All Purpose Nipple Ointment” that was developed by pediatrician, Jack Newman, MD. Ointments are better than creams, when it comes to sore nipples. Getting this complication taken care of is very important to reduce infection or interruption of healing.
  • Milk letdown, or failure to lactate, may be the result of deficient oxytocin. Our Oxytocin Nasal Spray can be compounded to help with this. An increase in the oxytocin concentration actually causes tightening of the cells around the alveoli and milk ducts, which helps in preparation of suckling.

Hemorrhoids and tearingcan also be a complication after child bearing. Key Health Pharmacy and Compounding have more solutions to these problems. You can see more of our dosage forms here.

Postpartum care for BABY

Your newborn baby will need a lot of care. We can help with diaper rashes or with dosage forms that can be compounded specifically for your baby. We can compound creams, ointments, or powders for dermatitis (diaper rash) specifically for your infant. We can compound diaper rash solutions that will guard the skin from extra irritation and prevent any future infection. Many commercial pediatric medicines may not be suitable or the right strength for infants. Key Health Pharmacy and Compounding can make a compound with the right dosage strength and form for your infant. We offer many forms that commercial medicines do not, some of those including lollipops, freezer pops, gummy bears, and suppositories.
